Some of the world’s biggest acts have come to Middlesbrough for Radio1’s #BigWeekend.
After a special opening night on Friday – where Miley Cyrus joined Mark Ronson on stage – the first full day swung into action on Saturday. Stormzy played his new hit Vossi Bop live for the first time. Billie Eilish got the crowd singing her hits against a backdrop of spiders and nightmarish ghouls. Headliner Cyrus delivered a treat for the crowd: playing three brand new songs, reportedly titled Mother’s Daughter, Cattitude and Dream; telling the crowd that new music is coming later this week; and performing with CharliXCX, after inviting her on stage via Twitter
Spare a thought, though, for Jess Glynne and her band. Glynne lost her voice and pulled out of the event at the last moment. It was too late to tell the band, who turned up and decided to go into town and watch Aladdin.
